Letter from Korey O'Brien, Producer of We-the-students.org: We the students would like to thank the City of Nashua, the NTU, Board of Education, and Board of Aldermen for supporting our cause and recognizing our views. Our year has begun to get back on track, and although it is too late to see a complete turn-around, things around school are as normal as they could possibly be after such a lengthy negotiation. We-the-students.org had committed itself to informing the community of updates and opinions through use of video coverage and also to give the students in the city of Nashua a voice in a previously two-sided battle. Our voices were heard and were recognized and I do believe that the community began to realize who was ultimately being hurt: the students. I am happy to say that the tension around school has diminished completely, teachers are more upbeat and ready and willing to teach, and the hallways of our school, which were until recently bare and white, are now decorated with colorful posters advertising upcoming events, sales, and accomplishments. The voice of the student is one that should in no circumstance be overlooked. We the students, of Nashua, hope that we have made a difference in our community for ourselves and future generations in the Nashua School District. Education is not something to be taken lightly, and the way an education is brought forth should never be seen as such either. We are students and we are people, and we matter too. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who participated in this project. Without the community of Nashua behind us, we could not have done some of the things we have accomplished. Korey O'Brien We the students, of Nashua, by informing the community of events involving the teachers and the city of Nashua, standing up for what we believe in, standing up for ourselves as students, voicing our opinions, accurately covering the views of all sides, and appropriately using our rights as defined within the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution, hope to re-establish a positive academic experience for the students of Nashua, NH. To this end, we therefore establish the group “We-The-Students”.
